ESE provides geotechnical investigations, including the characterization and analysis of in-situ materials, for roadways, airfields and site development projects.  We provide pavement designs for roadway and airfield construction, reconstruction and rehabilitation projects for public entities.  Our recommendations include roadway grading; reuse of existing base and asphalt concrete in the new structural section; and placement of engineered fill soils and materials to be used in the proposed pavement structural section. Our pavement designs consider the impacts of the construction to the traveling public by evaluating potential phasing options. ESE is familiar with AASHTO, NDOT, Caltrans and FAA pavement design procedures for both new construction and overlay design which considers the remaining life of the existing pavement. We also provide characterization and analysis of in-situ material for site development projects, and recommended soil bearing pressures, engineered fill – if required, and construction methods.
