Client:
Nevada Department of Transportation
Project
Name: I-580 Freeway Extension from Washoe Valley to Mount Rose Highway
The project
consists of the construction of approximately 8 miles of a new six lane
controlled access freeway.
The freeway is being constructed over or adjacent to several Waters of the US, wetland areas
and Waters of the State.
Work includes large roadway cuts and embankment fills, roadbeds
grading,
cut & fill slope stabilization, landscaping, roadway stabilization, drainage
structure installation, asphalt concrete paving and Portland cement concrete.
The
project also includes constructing two
interchanges,
two grade separations, five bridges, MSE walls, underground utilities, highway lighting,
and a bridge deicing system. ESE is providing full time inspection for roadway excavation
and embankment placement, roadway stabilization, underground utility
installation, structural backfill,
structure excavation, slope stabilization and landscaping.
In addition,
the project includes two concrete batch plants dedicated to the production of
Portland cement concrete for the project. ESE's Certified Professional in
Erosion & Sediment Control (CPESC) is inspecting the project and
batch plants; and reviewing the SWPPPs for compliance with the NPDES permit,
NDEP temporary working in waterways permit, Corp of Engineers Individual Permit,
the NDOT BMP Manual and NDOT specifications related to SWPPP Compliance.

Client: City of Bishop
Public Works Department
Project Name: Grove Street Safe
Routes to School Project
ESE provided
design, construction management, full time inspection and material testing
services for the Grove Street Safe Routes to Schools project
in Bishop,
California. The project included the construction and re-construction of curb,
gutter, sidewalk, pedestrian ramps, driveways, AC roadway, drainage
improvements, extensive water and sewer upgrades, and parking facilities from Highway
395 to Home Street. All improvements were designed to meet the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA), as well
as California accessibility standards.
The project required extensive public outreach/interaction which incorporated
presenting project details at public meetings; working with residents concerning property specific issues from the design stage through construction;
addressing environmental concerns to ensure timely project delivery; and coordinating with local and state
government agencies such as Caltrans, California Division of the State Architect (DSA), and environmental agencies.
ESE also coordinated
construction surveying for the project.

Client: Town Of Truckee
Project Name: Pioneer Trail Roundabout
ESE and team members provided civil engineering design services for a
roundabout in Truckee, California at the intersection of Pioneer Trail Road and
Donner Pass Road. The project consisted of the layout and design of a two lane
roundabout to be initially constructed as
a one lane roundabout and then
retrofitted at a later date as a two lane roundabout. This design considered
grading and drainage of the roundabout in both a one lane and two lane
configuration. In addition, the project included the design of Class 1 bike/ADA accessible
trails on
both sides of Donner Pass Road from the SR89 Roundabout to the I-80 overpass.
Landscaping, drainage and lighting were also components of the design.
Construction of the one-lane roundabout was completed in the fall of 2009. The
construction of the trails and landscaping were completed in the
fall of 2010. ESE provided complete drainage design, utility coordination,
geotechnical investigation, storm water pollution prevention plans, final design
plans and specifications. The construction cost of all the improvements was approximately 2 million dollars.
The roundabout
improvements
provide a safe crossing for bike and pedestrians to the new community center
from Pioneer Center and the Middle School while creating another important leg of the
Truckee Trails bike plan. This project utilized bio-swales and creative planting
to integrate storm drainage with recreational uses which provided an aesthetic
extension of the future link to the downtown
for school children and adults alike.
Client: Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County

micro-surface seal within the corrective maintenance section and approximately
7,700 lineal feet of complete reconstruction of the existing roadway using
in-place pulverization and cement treatment followed by new asphalt concrete
pavement. The project also included sidewalk, curb and gutter, pedestrian ramp

Client: North
Tahoe Public Utilities District
Project Name:
2008 Water Main Replacement Project, Kings Beach, CA
The project
included replacing 2,800 linear feet of 6” water main on Cutthroat Avenue from
Wolf Street to Fox Street and the installation of new fire hydrants on Speckled
Avenue from Wolf Street to Chipmunk Street and on Cutthroat Avenue from Wolf to
Fox Streets.
The
project also included milling the existing asphalt concrete surface and
placement of a 2” overlay. Because construction prices for this project were
lower than expected there were additional funds available to replace 275 linear
feet of 6” water main on Wolf Street between Cutthroat Avenue and Speckled
Avenue. ESE amended the permits and modified the design quickly so the
contractor could start the construction at the intersection of Wolf and Speckled
by the contract start date. ESE services included Placer County permitting,
TRPA permitting, public outreach, final design, and material testing
for the installation of the new water main and services to approximately 65 homes.
